Parade of Ponds in Kihei January 31st, 2009
Every year we pick a worthwhile charity that can benefit from the public viewing some of the more beautiful features here on Maui. This year we're picked the SMS,
South Maui Sustainability organization. This is your chance to see how others have created a paradise in their own backyard. The donation is only $10, but owners of features built by Hawaiian Waterfalls will open up their homes from 10 am to 2 PM on January 31st, 2009 for your viewing.
The ponds will focus on energy efficiency as well as beauty and will feature
"Pondless Waterfalls", waterfall features that use less energy because the pump needs only be turned on when the owner wants to view the feature. When the pump is off the water recedes into a rock well protected from the sun and bugs. You never have an algae problem.
Pick up a map at 1536 Halama Street in Kihei. Call 280-3018 for directions or just get to the Kihei firestation by Kalama Park and ask. You'll be right near by. The map will contain the addresses of 10 waterfall features that are prepared for your visit. You'll get some great ideas for your own landscaping.
